Belgian Grand Prix Victory
Antonelli’s latest triumph came at the Belgian Grand Prix on July 19, where he claimed his sixth victory of the 2026 season. Starting from pole position at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the young Italian faced a difficult race after Charles Leclerc briefly took the lead during the pit-stop phase.
However, Antonelli remained calm under pressure. In the closing laps, he caught and overtook the Ferrari driver before pulling clear to take another important win for Mercedes. Leclerc finished second, while Max Verstappen completed the podium in third place.
The race was also a major moment in the title fight. Antonelli’s Mercedes teammate George Russell retired after an opening-lap collision with Lewis Hamilton, allowing Antonelli to extend his advantage at the top of the standings.
A Season of Records
Antonelli has been one of the standout drivers of the year. His victories in China, Japan, Miami, Canada, Monaco and Belgium have turned him from a promising young talent into a serious contender for the Formula 1 World Championship.
